Can I get a bank account if I'm bankrupt?
Yes, if you're bankrupt you can still get a basic bank account.
Although some banks will refuse to offer any sort of bank account if you've recently declared bankruptcy, many banks will allow you to sign up for a basic bank account. As benefits differ between banks, it's always best to explore your options.
Evolution Banking can help you recover from bankruptcy
For a one off setup fee of £12.50, and a monthly management fee of £12.50, if you're over 18 and a UK resident, even if you're bankrupt, you can apply for a basic bank account which will allow you to make and receive payments, set up standing orders and direct debits and will supply you with a prepaid card so you can manage your cashflow but still have the ease of making payments with a card.
Our philosophy is not to punish you for having been declared bankrupt but to provide a bank account that enables you to do basic things like receiving wages and setting up regular payments helping you to get back on your feet financially.
You can pay money into your bank account for free at Barclays branches and for a small fee at other high street banks across the UK. You can also pay money into your account at Payzone outlets. Evolution Banking also offers online access to your bank account and telephone banking** - so managing your money will be easy and convenient.
If you've been declared bankrupt and you're looking for a bank account, apply now with Evolution Banking. If you have any questions, you can always phone us on 0845 9000 050 or fill in the contact form.
*Open to all UK residents aged 18 and over, subject to satisfactory proof of identity and residency verification.
